The son of a Baptist preacher resents the fact that, because of his father’s work, the family has recently had to relocate to Detroit. Still, the boy and his father work hard to fix-up the rather rundown new church in time for Christmas. When a roof leak destroys the repairs the boy has made, he is devastated but then relieved when a trip to a secondhand shop results in the purchase of beautiful tapestry which is just the right size to cover the wall damage. What the boy doesn’t know is that by hanging the tapestry in the church he has just brought about the beginnings of a Christmas miracle. Watercolor-and-pencil illustrations accompany the text.
